From Parma, where they participated in the government of the Duchy, the Cesarini Sforza moved two centuries ago to the then Prince-Bishopric of Trento and Count Filippo assumed, as Podestà, the leadership of the city. At that time, it was common for noble families such as Cesarini Sforza to own and cultivate beautiful countryside and, in a land suited to viticulture such as that of Trentino, to have vineyards of great value.
Reviving this ancient legacy, in 1974 Lamberto Cesarini Sforza, together with a small group of entrepreneurs, founded the eponymous winerywith the aim of producing high quality sparkling wines that would be able to impose themselves not only among Trentino producers, but also on the national and international scene.
The visionary path undertaken by Cesarini Sforza took concrete form in the careful selection of grapes from vocated vineyards of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, in the direct management of the estates and in the expansion of the winemaking facilities. These were the foundations of excellence for the creation of Cesarini Sforza sparkling wines, which quickly succeeded in gaining a prominent place in the world of Trentino and Italian sparkling wines: 1976 saw the birth of the first Cesarini Sforza sparkling wine made according to the Classic Method; 1985 saw the production of a daring Rosé Classic Method only from Pinot Noir grapes grown on the hills of the Cembra Valley; and then, thanks to continuous viticultural and oenological research, 1986 saw the birth of the first Aquila Reale Riserva produced using only Chardonnay grapes grown above 500m.
Today, just like in the origins, Cesarini Sforza holds firm to the three pillars on which the best winemaking culture is founded: tradition, innovation and the pursuit of excellence. Cesarini Sforza, under the aegis of Aquila Reale, makes itself the interpreter of the noblest mountain bubbles, refined and versatile sparkling wines capable of proudly telling all the strength of a unique territory, extraordinarily suited to viticulture.
